It’s been a while…

Sunday, June 22nd, 2003

I know, it’s been a while since I’ve written here. I am not sure why, but I am writing now. All I can say is that I am totally amping right now. I had a 20oz vanilla coke with lunch- figuring that it would be ok, and that I could wear it off during the day, and now I’m am all jumpy with the stomach in knots. This shit sucks. I guess I had the coke because it was sitting in my fridge for about a month, and I got tired of looking at it. Heh.

On a side note, I finally got around to putting a all-in-one component stereo with speakers in the garage. This will be nice so I can listen to the radio while I work on the car or in the front yard. I still have yet to install fluorescent lights in the garage which would be nice.

Today was just a nice day- I got all my yard work done yesterday, so I spent the day doing pretty much whatever. I did a little bit of reading in the back porch area, but it was hard for me to concentrate since I’m amping the way that I am. I went to the grocery store earlier to pick up some salad greens so I can mix in a can of tuna and some salad dressing for lunch. It was pretty damn good. I also talked to my neighbors up the street, and they said that I could take limes from their lime tree whenever I want- the limes look like lemons when the ripen, but apparently they are limes. Go figure…

Big day today

Friday, June 13th, 2003

This week has been brutal- I’ve been planning for this big move from one datacenter to another for a while now, and it’s all happening this weekend. I wanted to get some extra sleep tonight so I would be rested, but my cat Sammy kept on meowing all night. Drove me nuts. I also made my spaghetti last night too while I watched the Sopranos (off of Tivo), and that jacked me up too- I was thirsty all friggin’ night. Ug.

This is the last big task at work for a while, so I am going to plan on going on vacation in August. I still need to register at Univ. of Phoenix so I can take that free online course. Too much to do.

Back to work

Sunday, June 8th, 2003

Well, it’s Sunday, and it’s time for me to get back to work. The training at Veritas was very intensive, and has given me a real solid foundation on fixing the woes that my work has. I guess that is the best part- being able to apply what I leaned to improve my skills. My boss sent some EMC training my way, so I am going to call them to get signed up for that.

I finally got my sprinkler heads swapped out. They were set to 360 degree spray, and was thus thoroughly watering the weeds as well as the lawn. Hopefully the weeds will have a harder time growing now. The only thing that sucks is that I had to mow the weeds to get a handle on ‘em, but it would be a brutal few days of weed pulling to get ‘em all. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. hehe.

In other news from last week, I talked to an admissions counselor about getting back into school to get my degree- I checked out Univ. of Phoenix, and they have a bachelor’s in MIS that I can get online. Being a geek, that is definitely a plus for me. I am going to take my vacation first before starting school so I have a chance to relax and reward myself before starting school.

And in further news, I had a pretty cool dream last night. I had a few, but they are kinda trippy (running away from this zombie like thing and jumping off a 200′ cliff to get into a lagoon where I tried to swim away), but this one was cool. Basically, I was with my family, and I wanted to show them that I could walk through chain-link fence. I wasn’t able to get my body through, but I pushed my hand through though. That was cool. I can’t really explain how it felt, but it did give me some resistance, but as I pushed my hand through, it gave. It was pretty cool seeing my hand/arm on the other side. I told my family that as I practice, I can put my hand in an engine block. If this is like how I learned to fly, I am sure after I have the dream a few more times, I will be able to walk through stuff. hehe.

Is my house haunted?

Monday, June 2nd, 2003

Well, I am siting here eating one of my poor-man’s pizzas (for lack of a better word for this freak food), and drinking a Corona. The house is still hot from the day, so I figured I would stay up for a little bit and write in my blog before I crash.

Anyway, yeah, I wonder sometimes if my house is haunted- one time, it sounded like someone ran a pencil up and down my wood blinds. I sat up and I could hear that it came from one of hte bedrooms. Then, last night it sounded like a pile of wood spilled (the pile broke), and landed somewhere in my attic. I couldn’t really hear for sure, because I was sleeping on my side, and you lose your location abilities when you do that, so it’s hard to know. It happened two times actually. I dont think it was my cats, but you never know.

Oh, I had my first day of Veritas Volume Manager training today. We don’t really use it too much at work, but I wanted a detailed understanding of the technology, and this class looks like it will provide that. I am just glad that there’s a cafeteria that I can go to- I hate getting in my car to go to some dive to eat. Thank God for that.

One last thing- I drank a crap-load of water to help make my sore throat feel better. It seems to be going around as one of the students in my class had some cough drops.
