Oi. My head hurts

Jeez. I don’t know what the deal is. My head is POUNDING today. I don’t remember the last time I had a headache this bad. I just self-medicated with two tylenol to hopefully put the woops to it. We’ll see. I was dog-tired today before my 4 hour nap- I ended up staying up until about 1:30am goofing around on the computer since I knew I could sleep in, and my damn alarm clock woke me up at 6:45am (it has a weekend shut-off mode that wasn’t set). So, I woke up, sent Zelda a dorky little email, and tried to go back to sleep. Nope- that didn’t work. Sammy thought it was time to wake up, so he started purring, and licking my face, then I started thinking about work, and how I’ll be meeting with my boss to discuss why I am wrong for thinking we should be compensated (time off) for working on the weekends/evenings, and I figured I may as well get up. Ug.

While I was feeling good, I figured I’d hit Costco. I love that place, and it’s fun to dig around their wares to see what’s new. I needed some night lights- I got these other night lights for the house that lasted about 6 months. It’s the cylindrical fluroescent ones- they suck. These are LED ones, and look like they’ll actually do the job. And no, those that know me know I have my OCD moments (whistles, umbrellas, etc.), but this isn’t one of them. I get up at night for unknown reasons, and it’s nice to be able to walk around the house without turning on the lights. I hate doing that. So this’ll be cool. Oh. I also picked up Age of Empires III at Costco as well - two copies of course (one for Z, and one for me). She’ll be stoked that I grabbed them I’m sure. I’m not sure if I should play it a bit to get some practice in, or wait for her. She was pretty good at AoE II, so I’ll have to be careful this time. hee. Oh! I thought it would be yumm to cook up some fillets on the grill for dinner tomorrow- I think I’ll have a double episode of Rome to watch. I figure I’ll make myself a good dinner and pan-sear the fillets, then grill them with blue cheese on top, and a good cabernet. That would be so good. I haven’t done that in a long time, and it would be great to bring for lunch tomorrow. I got 4 fillets for like $29, and Costo has the best prices, and their meat is awesome. Maybe when I get the blue cheese tomorrow at the grocery store, I’ll get some green beans as well. That’d be so good.

Shannon just stopped over, saying that she got her costume for tonight, and wanted me to see it to make sure she looked okay. I’m kind of jumping the gun on this. You see, Shannon, Amy (her best friend of like 14 years), and I were going to go find some costumes over at Natasha’s Attic right there near Valley Fair. Well, that dragged on for a few hours. I ended up standing outside talking with the bouncer of the place while Shannon and Amy tied up the dressing rooms trying to find the perfect she-devil costume. Heh. The night was interesting. The only thing that I could pin it on was the energy of everyone going out to some party on the 29th- everyone was super friendly, and I ended up striking up conversations with like 5 different people. It was like we were all having a party right there. It was funny. I was THIS close to buying a big afro, but I ended up not doing it.

So, after some great amount of time, they ended up leaving. The store closed, and we took off. I guess Savers is the place to go too for stuff, so we went there. This place is a dump, but I ended up pushing the cart around bumping into Amy and Shannon to annoy them. SOMEHOW we started talking to this older lady (well, not old, but in her late-late 30’s), and she was talking about how she was a drama teacher at the local school in Willow Glen, and then she started talking about her personal life, and how she had some rough times, etc. Crazy stories…

Is that it? Just dusting off my BDUs that I had packed in my military duffel-bags. God, the smell of that gear takes me back. Wow. So, I washed one of my uniforms, found my old TA-50 (utility belt, and other shit for lack of a better word), and my old combat boots. I’m set. I’m bringing my camera to take some pics- I want to make sure and have some for Z to see. Next year, it’ll be great- she loves dressing up in costumes (Renn Faire, Halloween, etc.), so it’ll be great to do all this stuff next year. Maybe that’ll be when I get some military issue camouflage, and do it up right. When I did all that back in ‘93, I looked like I was some hard-core ranger. It was great.

I just talked to Zelda a bit ago on email (she was at someone’s house taking care of their dogs), and I guess she had a great time going out last night. She wore her orange heels that she got when we went out to dinner, and I think that took her to about 6′1″. Sounds like she had a great time- I can’t wait to hear how it all went. :-D I’m not sure what she liked more, taking care of the dogs, or being able to take a bath. She’s got this rinky-dink shower in her studio, and I know there is no room to do much of anything. hehe.

Oh, the last thing- Jim, who is a buddy of mine on #wopr on IRC (efnet) pointed me to this URL that will take your photos, and send you back a photo album. I haven’t done it, but it looks really cool. It’d be fun for Z and I to do this. Check it out:

Oh! So I know I want to get some firewood for December to burn in the fire place, but not really sure where to find it. So one of the houses in my neighborhood had some firewood for sale- he said $100 for a chord of wood. I go there, and the wood didn’t look good at all! They were small pieces, and I wasn’t sure how much a chord of wood was , but it sure didn’t look like it. Sooooo, I go to my folks’ house for dinner, and my Pa said that a chord is 8′ long, 2′ thick, and 4′ tall usually. This guy had 1/3 of a chord of wood at most! My folks said they would scout around for some wood (there is a place on Lawrence that has a HUGE pile of it). It’d be great to have some to use for the cold nights coming up, especially around Christmas when Z gets here.

Ok, that’s it for sure- no more typing. :-)
