The evolution of my test-bed site has been interesting. First, I wanted to muck around with a blog, so I went with Geeklog. Didn’t really care for the interface, so I moved to Neucleus (I think that was the sequence). So, I never liked how Nucleus was adminned, so I started looking again. I then did some research over at CMS Matrix, and ezPublish floated right up to the top- it got really high ratings, but it was so friggin’ slow!!! This is even with caching enabled! So, scrap that one, and tried Mambo again. The admin interface is so clean, and after 1.5 days of poking at it, I finally have something that I think is pretty usable.
In short, I have to say that Mambo is about the coolest thing ever. It’s wysiwyg interface is great (although, it would be good for their to be smiley support for the blogs - with images that is), but there isn’t. It’s now running my site, and I will continue to migrate my old static website over to this one. Very nice guys..
Tomorrow, I have two things I want to do- one is to go to work, and update the kickstart server there with Fedora 3. I really want to upgrade my Linux desktop from Fedora 1. The other thing is to put a SERIOUS dent in the weeds I have in the back before they start shooting pollen everywhere. It’s going to be a big job, but it really needs to be done. This one weed has grown to about 8″ in about 2 weeks. Crazy.
Anywho, time to go to bed- my cats are starting to annoy me. They do this when they feel it is time for me to go to sleep. I think I’ll take their suggestion.
